Mahtaab joined the lab in August of 2016. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biology and Crop and Soil Sciences at Virginia Tech in 2015. She is now pursuing her Master's and is planning to study how fungal endophyte diversity influences tall fescue pasture sustainability and ecosystem function. She is largely interested in the field of agroecology and soil microbiology and hopes to later apply her degrees in the form of outreach and extension work. When she's not dutifully tending to her project, Mahtaab enjoys camping, hiking, climbing, reading, and teaching people how to correctly pronounce her name.
